On Sunday, April 26th at 12:00pm noon, the Travis C. Kitchen VFW Post 7788 at 422 Naugatuck Avenue in the village of Devon will host the 58th annual “Day for a Hospitalized Veteran” here in Milford, Connecticut. Ms. Christine Smith of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary CT Post 7788 very kindly contacted us through the Milford Democrats website and I’ll be re-posting her message along with some other information concerning this important event:
I am an auxiliary member of the VFW Post 7788 here in Milford and I was hoping you and your members may be able to help.
On Sunday, April 26th, VFW Post 7788 will host our 58th annual “Day for a Hospitalized Veteran”. We will bring 150 hospitalized veterans from the West Haven VA Hospital, Newington VA Hospital, and Rocky Hill State Veterans Home to Milford, where they will enjoy an afternoon of dining and entertainment. We also send every veteran home with a goodie bag and here is where I was hoping you could help.
We are looking for donations of items to put into the bag. The types of items we are looking for are white socks, puzzle books, bathroom articles (soap, razors, shampoo, etc.), candy, greeting cards, pens, and any other item you think they may like.
If you wish to contact me for more information, please do not hesitate to email or call me at (203) 800-5181. I would be happy to speak with you about this wonderful program.
For many of the permanently disabled resident veterans at the VA hospitals, this is the highlight of their year.
Thank you, very much. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated.
