State Representative Kim Rose (D-Milford) is pleased to support the American Lung Association and their Lung Force Campaign, which includes a number of different activities for the public to help raise lung cancer awareness, the No. 1 cancer killer of women in the United States.

The Lung Force Campaign will be launching the Women’ Lung Health Week, the second week of May, from the 11th-15th. As part of the official ceremonies, on Tuesday, Milford Mayor Ben Blake issued and presented a city proclamation at City Hall to officially recognize this week and the efforts of the organization.

“It is my honor to help this outstanding organization get this important message out to the community,” Rep. Rose said. “As a lung cancer survivor, I know firsthand that education and awareness are key to an early diagnosis, treatment and recovery. I applaud this great program and encourage all my neighbors to help us spread the word.”

Many activities are planned including wearing turquoise to work, the campaign’s signature color, during the designated week and sharing personal stories with the organization on their website http://www.lungforce.org/share-your-story.  Other activities will include lighting buildings and landmarks in turquoise and an organization gala to promote the message. Rep Rose said, “Statistics say that every five minutes, a woman in the U.S. is told she has lung cancer. Let’s help our sisters, mothers, daughters, girlfriends understand their risks. I hope you can join me in this journey. Together we can make a huge difference against this devastating disease.”

Press Release: Holiday Open House at Governor’s Residence

First I want to thank everyone who participated and volunteered during campaign season this year. Results from this year didn’t go in our favor completely on a local level but we held firm State wide and were able to re-elect real good people to represent us in Hartford and Washington D.C. Our State Senator Gayle Slossberg and State Representative Kim Rose I know will represent Milford dutifully. It is unfortunate that our State Reps James Maroney and Paul Davis won’t be joining the legislature next year but I know they will remain close to their communities and continue to work on behalf of their neighbors, with a legislative title or not.
