GayleThe New Haven Register published a recent article covering the 14th Senatorial district race. Slossberg said, “We were able to save thousands of jobs,” in an agreement with United Technologies/Sikorsky, as well as 95 supplier businesses and their employees. Slossberg said she’s “worked hard” with both large and small employers to “help them survive and thrive.”

“I’m a fiscal conservative and voted against spending and tax increases,” for the middle class, seniors and veterans, Slossberg said.

Even though she holds many Senate leadership positions, Slossberg still finds time to make house calls in some cases in order to help a constituent. Recently, she planned to bring a public health expert to the home of a local senior who needs to reassess health insurance choices to make ends meet.

“I want to make sure people can afford to live in our community,” she said.

Among Slossberg’s leadership roles are Senate Chairwoman of the Human Services Committee, focused on improving mental health services, and vice-chairwoman of the Veterans Affair Committee. Veterans have always been a group close to Slossberg’s heart.

“These are the people who answered the call,” and left home and family to protect our freedoms, she said. “We owe everything to them when they come home.”
