School Resource Officers (SROs) Topic of April 30th Board of Education Meeting

The next BOE Meeting, TUESDAY, APRIL 30th, has ben moved to CITY HALL. The meeting start time will now be 6:30 p.m.

This meeting will include a presentation and discussion on the potential of School Resource Officers (SROs) in the Milford Public Schools, with a focus on the role of an SRO and the benefits to the Milford children, the school system and the community.

The BOE members will hear from Dr. Feser, Superintendent of Schools, as well as Chief Keith Mello from the Milford Police Dept. and Mr. William (Bill) Richards (Coordinator of the School Safety Working Committee).

Additionally, Dr. David Bernstein will be joining the discussion as an expert in the field of Threat Assessment. Dr. Bernstein has held appointments at Yale University School of Medicine and Harvard University Medical School, where he completed his residency in Forensic Psychology in the Department of Law and Psychiatry. Additionally he has attended training with the United States Secret Service and currently serves as a consultant for state and federal law enforcement agencies such as the FBI.

As always, all members of the public are welcome to attend.

If the SRO program moves forward, this is a big change for Milford schools. Residents should attend or watch this meeting to stay informed.
