Not lacking a spring in his step, former State Representative James Maroney (D-119th) has put out a letter to the editor that was recently published at the Milford Mirror praising Mayor Ben Blake, Governor Dan Malloy and the Milford state delegation for securing a $150,000 grant for the downtown Milford area.
James knows that investing and planning for a vibrant downtown Milford will greatly benefit the community as a whole. Downtown is home not only to numerous amounts of small businesses but also to Milford’s Legacy Arboretum, City Hall and others. James, when serving as a State Representative, helped secure a $300,000 grant to pay for the significant and historic “Founders’ Walk” memorial in downtown Milford.
With our local elected officials like Mayor Blake, fellow neighbors, advocates and the Founders’ Walk Committee, he is working towards building a stronger downtown Milford and I thank him for that.
An excerpt from the letter;
While we have a beautiful 17 miles of shoreline, downtown is the heart of our community. The increased parking in a thoughtful way, as well as projects like Founders’ Walk, the beautification of the railroad trestle, and the MilfordViews project will ensure that our downtown is enjoyed by our community and visitors for years to come.
