Blake Announces Appointment of Julie Nash as Director of Economic and Community Development
Milford, CT September 12, 2013: Mayor Benjamin Blake today announced the appointment of Julie Nash to the position of Economic and Community Development Director.
“As a long term resident of Milford with a commitment and passion for the City, Julie was the right fit. She comes with extensive experience in both state and federal government, as well as the private sector, all of which will serve this position well. I look forward to her joining this administration and furthering the goal of making Milford the best place to live and work.”
Most recently, Ms. Nash served as the Government Affairs Manager at WWE in Stamford, where on a daily basis she interacts with national, state and local officials as well as community leaders and business executives. Nash attended Lauralton Hall, holds a Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University School of Law, and is admitted to the State Bar of Connecticut in good standing.
Nash commented, “I am honored to serve as the new Director of Economic and Community Development and am excited to get started. Having lived in Milford most of my life and now choosing to raise my family here, I have a personal and vested interest in ensuring our beautiful community prospers while, at the same time, maintaining its charm.”
The Mayor explained that 24 applications for the position were received from which a selection panel chose seven applicants to interview. The selection panel consisted of the Assistant City Attorney and Acting Personnel Director, Debra Kelly, Milford Economic Development Commissioner and local businessman, Greg Harla, and General Manger of Westfield Connecticut Post Shopping Center, Dan Kiley. Following the interviews before the panel, two finalists were referred to the Mayor for a second interview. “Nash distinguished herself as our first choice based upon her in-depth work experience as well as her strong commitment to the City of Milford,” Blake added.
Julie lives in Milford with her husband, Ben. They have two young children, Maxwell and Cameron.
