Add new commentJabbing Jack is Back!Well, old jabbing Jack Fowler is back and yes he’s on the attack; his latest target Milford’s own Aldermanic Chairman, Ben Blake. In a recent letter to the editor by Mr. Fowler the people of Milford are again treated to ringside seat for Fowler’s, National Review-Ann-Coulter-style political attacks. What's bewildering is how Mr. Fowler can't seem to grasp, as many times as people have tried to explain it to him, that the people of Milford have no appetite for his style of political and personal attacks. His acerbic style may be befitting and celebrated with his National Review crowd but it just doesn’t fit in our community. Buried somewhere beneath Jack’s rants in his recent letter to the editor was a charge that Blake had committed to leaving an issue regarding a possible installation of a gate at Caswell Cove on the “table” for the June meeting. Instead, Blake referred the matter to Planning and Zoning where it was rightfully suppose to be in the first place. Mr. Blake discovered that not only had the Planning and Zoning Board not reviewed the issue, but neither had the Police or Fire Departments, all of which should assess safety issues prior to the Board of Aldermen voting. So, Blake and the Board acted properly and responsibly by referring the issue to P&Z. Mr. Fowler doesn't seem to care about that. While still unclear about what all of Mr. Fowler’s angst was about he may want to try a little exercise to help calm down. Standing in front of a mirror, he should recite the following three times in loud and convincing tones; “I don’t have to be mean and negative ALL the time. I can say nice things, I know I can! It may be hard but I know I can do it if I really try. Then, people will like me because yes, I am a likable guy!” Jack may want to try out his new found persona by offering a hearty congratulations to the Milford Democratic Aldermen for their adroit handling of this year’s city budget. After six years of skyrocketing city spending and tax increases of six and seven percent under the current Republican administration, Milford ’s Democrats cut over four million from the Mayor’s budget and held spending to a unprecedented 1% increase. Yes, even mean Mr. Fowler has to be impressed by that. Go ahead Mr. Jack Fowler and say it and give us a smile. Reply |
