An open letter to the new Chairman of the Board of Aldermen

Congratulations on your new chairmanship, but why are you are so unaccommodating? Sure, the Democrats had a seamless transition to Board leadership. However, this should not be a reason to deny the six Republicans on the board the right to bicker over the minority leadership post - in public.

Why stop with two minority leaders? Why don’t you allow six? While you are at it, how about having nine majority leaders? I’m sure there is nothing in Robert’s Rules of Order that says that all 15 members on the Board can’t be a leader - of some sort. Give a little in the holiday season.

Of course, this whole attempt by the Republicans to have two minority leaders is ridiculous. Please ask them to pick one leader and get back to the business of governing the city.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Michael V. Brown
DTC Member – 4th District
