Please consider joining in implementing a Connecticut-based initiative to collect and ship these critical supplies to Haiti.
The Foundation for Children provides medical/surgical and relief services for children in many parts of the world. Currently, its Board is focusing on the needs of Haitian children under a year of age; in conjunction with relief agencies on the ground in Haiti, the foundation has received lists of the most desperately needed supplies and is working to acquire and ship specific items.
Diaper Bags for Haiti
Our intention is to collect cloth bags from conventions or from supermarkets and fill them with cloth diapers (pins too) or disposable diapers up to size 3; clothes up to 12 months; diaper rash cream and baby lotion, baby wipes -- even bottles with ready-to-use liquid formula [not dry as they fear the bad water].
List follows
As much as the moms and care givers need supplies, they each need a carrying bag as well.
Diaper Bag List
- Any items to keep infants clean, warm and full --
- Cloth grocery bags to hold items & for carrying them
- Cloth diapers & pins preferred or disposable diapers (up to size 3)
- Clothing: clean and in good condition (cotton; no wool or acrylic): up to 12-month size
- Small blankets
- Zinc Oxide or other diaper rash creams, baby wipes, baby lotion
- Bottles and liquid ready-to-use formula (not dry as they fear bad water)
We already have been able to provide two portable x-ray machines to the Hospital Sacre Coeur (HSC). HSC is the largest hospital located in northern Haiti. It is funded by the Crudem Foundation and continues to treat survivors daily; until now, the hospital had only one x-ray machine. The additional machines were shipped out of Hollywood, Florida and already are in use at the hospital.

It also helps if you could enclose one dollar in each diaper bag to help defray transportation costs. Thank you!
