Add new commentFact Checking Health Insurance ReformThere is so much distortion and confusion about the healthcare debate. To try to dispell some of the misinformation and myths out there, I've found some information that may be helpful. Below are links to facts about health insurance reform. ********************************************************* Get the facts about the stability and security you get from health insurance reform. http://www.whitehouse.gov/realitycheck/ "What’s in Reform for My Community?" http://www.whitehouse.gov/realitycheck/healthreformfliers ********************************************************* From Congresswoman DeLauro: DeLauro Continues to Fight for Health Care for All Americans Rosa has been a vocal proponent of strong consumer protections in the health care reform legislation – advocating for robust transparency and accountability provisions. H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act, incorporates provisions based on Rosa's Informed Consumer Choices in Health Care Act of 2009, which would make it easier for consumers to make informed choices about their health insurance coverage. For more information on health care reform please click here or visit www.healthreform.gov. ********************************************************* From Senator Dodd: Dodd Statement on CBO Analysis of Health Insurance Premiums “This nonpartisan analysis makes it clear: health care reform will save money for families and businesses. By creating real competition in the insurance market, we’ll be able to give every American real choice over their health care – and real savings in their pockets. We can’t afford more of the status quo – but, fortunately, we are on the verge of making quality health care accessible and affordable for every American family.” http://dodd.senate.gov/?q=node/5344 Dodd: Now is the Time to "Finish the Job" on Health Care Reform “We must finally hear the cry of the child whose ear infection goes untreated because his parents can’t find jobs and can’t afford a doctor, the voice of the small business owner who must choose between laying off workers and cutting off health benefits, the call of future generations who will see the rising tide of health care costs become a tsunami if we do not act,” said Dodd. “The road we are on, the status quo, leads to ruin – for our economy and for our constituents. The road to reform is long and difficult. But we have taken so many unprecedented steps, just to come to this place. It is time to finish the job.” http://dodd.senate.gov/?q=node/5345 ********************************************************* About the Public Option: http://crooksandliars.com/nicole-belle/robert-reich-explains-public-option ********************************************************* Senator Joe Lieberman threatens to filibuster the health insurance reform bill currently being debated in the Senate. As part of the procedureal process, he can vote "yes" on cloture (requiring 60 votes) which will allow the bill to move forward for a final vote (requiring a simple majority to pass) and "no" on the final bill which will allow him to vote his "conscience". Even though the majority of voters in Connecticut and the majority of Americans want a public option, Senator Lieberman opposes it. He is supposed to represent our interests, not his own and not those of lobbyists. Congresswoman DeLauro and Senator Dodd are listening to us. Senator Lieberman needs to listen to us as well. Contact Senator Lieberman and tell him not to stand in the way of affordable and accessible health insurance for Americans. Contact Senator Lieberman: Washington Connecticut Reply |
